DECISION
APPROVING THE PROJECT ON THE CONSERVATION OF BLACK GIBBONS IN VIETNAM’S NORTHWESTERN REGION, CO-FINANCED BY THE US MARGOT MARSH FUND AND THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR CONSERVATION OF WILD FAUNA AND FLORA (FFI) - INDOCHINA PROGRAM
THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 73/CP of November 1, 1995 stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development;
Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 17/2001/ND-CP of May 4, 2001 promulgating the Regulation on the management and use of official development assistance (ODA);
Pursuant to the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 64/2001/QD-TTg of April 26, 2001 promulgating the Regulation on the management and use of foreign non-governmental aids;
Considering the proposal of the Forest Ranger Department - Official Dispatch No. 343/KL-BTTN approving the project on cooperation with FFI;
At the proposal of the Director of the Department for International Cooperation,
DECIDES:
Article 1.- To approve the contents of the Project on conservation of black gibbons in Vietnam’s northwestern region, co-financed by the US Margot Marsh Fund and the International Organization for Conservation of Wild Fauna and Flora (FFI) - Indochina Program, with the following major information:
1. The project’s name: Conservation of black gibbons in Vietnam’s northwestern region.
2. The donors: The US Margot Marsh Fund and the International Organization for the Conservation of Wild Fauna and Flora (FFI) - Indochina Program.
3. The project manager: The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
4. The project-managing agency: The Forest Ranger Department.
5. The project’s specific objectives: To consolidate the survival of black gibbons in the northwestern region of Vietnam, with a view to creating foundation for the sustainable conservation of endangered wild animals in Vietnam and the world.
6. The project implementation duration: 1 year (from July 2001 to June 2002).
7. Total funding for the project: USD 18,700, of which:
- Margot Marsh Fund: USD 16,900,
- FFI - Indochina Program : USD 1,800.
