WIPO's Strategic Realignment Program (SRP) was launched on October 1, 2008, when Director General Francis Gurry took office. It aims to build a responsive and efficient Organization, equipped to achieve its strategic goals and to provide global leadership on intellectual property (IP) issues.
The objective of the SRP has been articulated in terms of four core-values. A set of initiatives will contribute to the realization of each of these values, as set out below.
In sum, the four core-values are:
- Customer-service orientation – we increase our responsiveness to global stakeholders and our customers are satisfied with our services;
- Working as one – we work as an integrated, responsive and efficient entity that is fit for purpose and delivers value for money;
- Accountability for results – we take ownership for our performance and achieve results;
- Environmental, social and governance responsibility – we perform in an ethical manner and care about our staff, community and the environment.
WIPO expects the following achievements for each of these values:
 | - Customer service improves (faster response, better knowledge of customer enquiries and improved customer feedback);
- New logo is recognized and brand awareness increases;
- The number of publications available in all official UN languages increases.
|
 | - WIPO becomes an integrated Organization, through an enabling regulatory framework, clear HR policies, rationalized contracts and a comprehensive EPR system;
- The organization functions in a more cohesive way, with a core set of values, ownership of the organizational goals, stronger communication and improved geographical and gender balance.
|
 | - MTSP for 2010-2015 is adopted and WIPO works towards the achievement of its goals;
- Results and performance tracking improve (including Development aspects);
- A comprehensive internal control system is established, communicated and enforced.
|
 | - A clear ethics system (codes, policies, enforcement mechanisms) is established, communicated and enforced;
- WIPO reduces its adverse impact on the environment;
- WIPO increases its content accessible to disabled people and improves accessibility infrastructure.

Since 2008, the Organization has already achieved progress towards each core-value. Completion of the process is expected by the end of 2012, as shown in the WIPO SRP Roadmap. Future plans and progress will be updated regularly to keep Member States and other stakeholders informed.
