Yes/ No question (Dạng câu hỏi Yes/ No)
1. Định nghĩa
Những câu hỏi mà có câu trả lời “Yes/ No” thì ta gọi là câu hỏi dạng đảo hay câu hỏi Yes/ No.
2. Cách thành lập câu hỏi Yes/ No
Để tạo được câu hỏi Yes/ No, nguyên tắc chung là chúng ta sẽ đảo trợ động từ, động từ tobe hoặc động từ khuyết thiếu lên trước chủ ngữ. Quá trình này gọi là đảo ngữ
a. Với động từ tobe
Cấu trúc:
Tobe + S + N/ Adj/ Ving…?
Yes, S + tobe
No, S + tobe not
Eg:
1. Is she a teacher?
Yes, she is.
2. Was he studying in his room?
No, he wasn’t
b. Với động từ thường
Cấu trúc
Auxilary verb + S + V....?
Yes, S + auxilary verb
No, S + auxilary verb + not
Eg: Do you like eating ice cream?
Yes, I do.
c. Với động từ khuyết thiếu
Cấu trúc:
Modal verbs + S + V?
Yes, S + modal verbs
No, S + modal verbs + not
Eg: Should I open the window?
No, you shouldn’t

1. Mệnh đề trạng ngữ - Adverbial clause
Mệnh đề trạng ngữ được dùng để cung cấp thêm thông tin về thời gian, địa điểm, cách thức của một hành động.
Mệnh đề trạng ngữ thường được kết hợp với danh từ, giới từ, động từ nguyên thể.
Mệnh đề trạng ngữ dùng để trả lời các câu hỏi có từ để hỏi là “when”, “where”, “how”, “why”, “how often”.
- thời gian (time) (khi nào? when?)
Ex: The Festival of the Sun is held on June 24th.
Lễ hội Mặt trời được tổ chức vào ngày 24 tháng 6.
- địa điểm, nơi chốn (place) (ở đâu? where?)
Ex: The festival is celebrated in Peru.
Lễ hội được tổ chức tại Peru.
- mức độ thường xuyên (frequency) (bao lâu? how often?)
Ex: The festival takes place every year.
Lễ hội diễn ra hằng năm.
- lý do (reason) (tại sao? why?)
Ex: A lot of people go to Cusco, Peru, to attend the festival.
Nliiều người đến Cusco, Peru để tham gia lễ hội.
- cách thức, phương thức (manner) (làm sao? how?)
Ex: People celebrate it in a special way.
Người ăn mừng lễ hội một cách đặc biệt.
People celebrate it with street fairs and live music.
Người ăn mừng lễ hội với hội chợ đường phcí và nhạc sống.
2. Từ để hỏi trong tiếng Anh - Wh_question
Các câu hỏi với từ để hỏi cho phép người nói tim thêm thông tin về chủ đề mình quan tâm. Các từ để hỏi theo thông tin muốn tìm có thể được liệt kê như sau:
WHO: ai Who has given you this book?
Nam has given me this book.
WHAT: cái gì What is that?
It’s a pencil.
WHOM: ai Whom are you going shopping with?
I’m going shopping with Mai.
WHEN: khi nào When did you watch star Wars?
I watched Star Wars last night.
WHERE: ở đâu Where can I find fresh vegetables?
You can find them at the greengrocer’s
HOW: như thế nào How do you go to school?
I go to school by bike.
WHY: tại sao Why did you have to tell a lie to your mother?
Because I didn’t want her to be sad.
HOW OFTEN: bao lâu một lần How often do you have Maths?
I have Maths twice a week.
WHICH (one)? —> Hỏi thông tin về sự lựa chọn
Which one do you prefer dogs or cats? - Dogs.
WHOSE? —> Hỏi thông tin về sở hữu
Whose bicycle did you borrow yesterday? - Lisa's.
HOW MUCH? —> Hỏi về giá cả, lượng (không đếm được)
How much is your coat? - It's 300000 VND.
HOW MANY? —> Hỏi về lượng (đếm được)
How many posters are there on the wall? - Five.
HOW LONG? —> Hỏi về thời gian
How long does it take you from your house to the supermarket? - It is about 15 minutes.
HOW OFTEN? —> Hỏi về mức độ thường xuyên
How often do you go shopping? - Twice a month.
HOW FAR? —> Hỏi về khoảng cách What kind (of)? —> Yêu cầu mô tả thông tin
How far is it from your house to your school? It's about 5 kilometres.
