Tertiary movement
One of the classifications of price movements developed by Charles H. Dow (founder of the Wall Street Journal and originator of the Dow Theory) which holds that in the long run prices are controlled by the intrinsic value of the security. The primary or basic movement is ultimately the controlling factor in investment and speculation. This movement tends to run for at least a year and usually much longer.
